Senior Mechanical/Piping Engineer Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical/Piping Engineer to join our in-house engineering design team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering projects that meet high quality, on-time, and safe standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cooperate with the design effort of a team to achieve satisfactory project performance.
  • Detailed design, working with technical specialists to ensure specification compliance, technical integrity of design.
  • Develop technical documents required for procurement.
  • Commercial awareness to ensure economic and safe selection of equipment.
  • Liaise with project controls personnel.
  • Participation in model review, design review, HAZID/HAZOP, safety in design, constructability, and safety reviews.
  • Provide construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning support.
Requirements:
  • Experience within a senior design engineer role, within engineering contracting or consultancy organizations in one or more of the following sectors – Oil & Gas, Mining & Minerals, and Infrastructure/Utilities.
  • Proven Australian experience in piping design including concept development, FEED, and detail design phases, including the piping layout.
  • Proven Australian engineering experience in piping fabrication, construction, and commissioning.
  • Extensive experience in detailed design, re-design, re-rating of the piping, design modification, alterations to existing plant, pipe stress analysis, fluid-induced vibrations (FIV) analysis, acoustic-induced vibration (AIV) analysis.
  • Degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge and experience of 3D intelligent design and project delivery systems and procedures, e.g., utilizing Navisworks models.
  • Application of brownfield experience and human factors in design.
  • Worked in a multi-tasking environment under time pressures and deadlines.
