The Department of Defence of Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director Communication and Ministerial to join our team.

This is a key leadership role that will be responsible for delivering and enabling extensive strategic communication efforts in response to media enquiries, drafting strategic communication products, and providing advice and support to communication efforts across Defence.

The successful candidate will lead on all ministerial and parliamentary products in relation to the Royal Commission Taskforce and provide advice and input to facilitate clear and consistent messaging on a range of matters.

This role requires a high degree of independence, sound decision-making, and judgement to provide expert advice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be accountable for delivering complex communication, media, and issues management work within an integrated workforce.
  • Exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role.
  • Exercise sound decision-making and judgement to provide expert advice.
  • Develop and implement work plans, set performance indicators, and review individual, team, and business performance.
  • Be responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships.
Requirements

  • Security Clearance level Baseline and the ability to obtain Negative Vetting (NV1).
