About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Capacity Engineer to join our team at ServiceNow. As a key member of our Capacity Management team, you will play a critical role in driving resource availability to support our private and public cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capacity Planning and Forecasting: Review the overall health of our top accounts and articulate the infrastructure resources required, including current and future hardware requirements, consumption analysis, and compliance reviews.
  • Infrastructure Performance Optimization: Proactively analyze and identify opportunities for storage reduction, and provide advance warning to appropriate teams for remediation.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Partner with Sales, Account Executives, Account Managers, Senior Directors, and executive leadership to provide analysis, utilization, and summarization of accounts and infrastructure.
  • Technical Debt Identification and Remediation: Identify technical debt and provide guidance across teams to optimize capacity and performance.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Directly interact with internal teams to provide appropriate capacity for accounts migrating to or currently residing in our public cloud.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in capacity management, database engineering, infrastructure performance, ServiceNow support, and/or ServiceNow administration.
  • Azure/AWS cloud engineering experience.
  • DBE/DBA with an emphasis on creating complex SQL queries.
  • Understanding of the ServiceNow platform.
  • Team collaboration, general fit, and goal alignment are essential.
  • Proven track record making data-driven decisions.
  • Understanding of relational database concepts (MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL).
  • High-level experience deploying, forecasting, and maintaining public cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP).
  • Australian Citizenship to obtain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Linux System Admin skills preferably working knowledge of CentOS/RHEL.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamically changing cloud infrastructure.
  • General knowledge of enterprise-class server hardware.
  • Programming skills – Python/Ruby/Bash/JavaScript/Terraform.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker.
  • Basic knowledge of storage configuration concepts and best practices therein.
  • Experience using the ServiceNow platform to support customers with non-standard infrastructure requirements, identify patterns of abnormal growth, and provide guidance to internal teams through proactive measures.
  • Bachelor of computer science, Systems Engineering, Systems Administration, Database Engineering, Data Analytics, or any other related field or equivalent work experience.
