Commonwealth Bank is a leading financial institution with a strong commitment to corporate governance. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Governance Specialist to join our Group Secretariat team.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing corporate governance advice and secretariat services to the Commonwealth Bank Group's (onshore and offshore subsidiaries).

The ideal candidate will have a law degree and Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance (GIA) and at least five years' experience in a governance role, combined governance and legal role or private practice legal role advising on governance matters and corporate advisory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic advice on corporate governance practices and compliance issues to assist Directors and the Company Secretaries in the discharge of their statutory duties and governance obligations.
  • Develop and maintain internal policies, procedure manuals, and templates.
  • Assist in the smooth running of Board/Committee meetings and decision-making by advising on papers, minutes, and governance documents and processes.
  • Support the testing and performance of risk controls mapped to the Group Secretariat team.
Requirements
  • A law degree and Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance (GIA) are essential.
  • Advanced knowledge, understanding, and application of the Group's corporate governance structure including relevant legislation, standards, and regulations.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in a governance role, a combined governance and legal role or a private practice legal role advising on governance matters and corporate advisory.
  • Strong organisational skills including the ability to plan, prioritise, meet deadlines, problem solve, and make sound judgements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits and opportunities for career growth and development.
