Audit Excellence at Commonwealth Bank
The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (Bank) is a leading provider of integrated financial services. Group Audit and Assurance (GA&A) is the internal audit function for the Group. Their primary purpose is to provide independent and objective assurance of the effectiveness of the Groups risk management, controls, and governance processes.
GA&A supports the business with new insights and risk coverage that puts customers first. They provide insightful assurance to the Board, evolving customer expectations, competitive threats, and the pace of change require GA&A to continually re-imagine themselves with the latest global best technology and innovation.
The GA&A Non-Financial Risk and Support Services team is responsible for auditing and reviewing CBA's Finance, Risk Management, and Support Services functions, including emerging, strategic, and operational risks.
We partner with all areas of CommBank to provide specialist services, in the areas of:
- Non-Financial Risk areas; including Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) risks, Risk Management Frameworks (strategic and operational), Compliance & Risk Culture.
- Finance; incl. Group Finance, Legal, Tax, Regulatory Reporting, Business & Support Unit Finance & Investor Relations.
As a leader with the GA&A NFRSS team, you'll advise stakeholders across the Group to identify and mitigate areas of risk and make valuable recommendations on controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and deliver a dynamic, risk-based audit plan for the Non-Financial Risk Finance and Support Services AuditRisk Management audit team, and support the broader GA&A plan.
- Oversee effective and efficient assurance to enable complete and collaborative delivery of your team's audit plan, and overall GA&A plan.
- Effectively resource audits and broader GA&A needs, using specialists and professional services, where required.
- Supervise audit delivery, and review and approve key audit stage-gates in the audit workflow.
- Effectively lead and direct all aspects of the audit from Planning, Fieldwork, Reporting, and through to audit closure.
- Support and drive appropriate use of analytics, to drive audit efficiency and deeper insights.
- Work closely with stakeholders at all levels in developing audit findings and recommendations regarding internal control and compliance.
- Prepare and deliver simple, pragmatic and easy to read audit reports for customers, including the Board Audit Committee and relevant subsidiary board and risk committees.
- Oversee the team's participation in the QA Program, including timely and effective delivery of QA file reviews, and ensure any feedback is quickly and effectively addressed.
- Drive high performance by taking accountability and leading audit team members to achieve GA&A strategic targets and goals.
Requirements
- Environmental & Social Risk experience including climate change, disclosures and reporting, E&S product and services and / or human rights.
- Financial services industry based knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrated ability in building strong customer relationships based on credibility, rapport, and trust.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally, navigating ambiguity while managing multiple scope areas or priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, accepting accountability of the process and delivering on commitments.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of risk frameworks to manage compliance, strategic, and operational risk, ideally with a working knowledge of associated standards.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder engagement with the ability to present and influence stakeholders and senior management.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills, with demonstrated ability to draw insights from analysis.
