Locomotive Driver Opportunity

The core purpose of this role is to operate locomotives and provide operational support ensuring safe and efficient working of freight trains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate locomotives in a safe and efficient manner
  • Carry out shunting at yards, depots and sidings and examine trains including conducting brake and continuity tests
  • Carry out preparation, stabling, turning and assembling of locomotives
  • Carry out roll-by inspections
  • Correct and reset minor on-road faults and diagnose major on-road faults and failures liaising with specialist staff
  • Operate communications equipment and prepare documentation associated with train operation
  • Drive motor vehicles

About the Role

You will be part of the train crew servicing coal operations in the Hunter Valley region.

This is a 24/7 operation requiring availability to work various shifts on weekdays, weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Certificate IV in Train Driving
  • Basic knowledge of safe-working procedures in a railway environment
  • Strong commitment to following rules and operating safely
  • Willingness to be part of a team
  • High level of concentration
  • Qualification in Train Orders desirable

  • Provide recent national criminal history check
  • Provide current C Class or higher Drivers Licence
  • Undertake Cat 1 Rail Medical
