At Amazon, we're seeking a talented junior lawyer to support our AWS Public Sector team. As a key member of our legal team, you'll work closely with our public sector customers, including government agencies, NGOs, and educational institutions, to negotiate and advise on technology contracts. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping us deliver innovative solutions to our customers.

As an Associate Counsel for AWS Public Sector, you'll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from standard contracts to complex, high-dollar-value agreements. You'll collaborate with our business teams to provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation, and help develop process improvements across the team.

We're looking for someone with a strong legal background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for technology. If you're a motivated and enthusiastic lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate and advise on technology contracts with public sector customers
  • Collaborate with business teams to provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation
  • Develop and implement process improvements across the team
  • Work closely with regulators and policy makers to ensure compliance

Requirements:

  • Law degree (L.L.B., J.D. or equivalent) from a leading university and/or law school
  • Admitted to practice law in Australia or New Zealand
  • 2+ years of post-admission legal experience at a top national or international law firm, in-house, or government agency
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Complex contracting experience involving public sector customers
  • In-house government or tech experience
  • Sound written and oral communication, and client interaction skills
