We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Counsel to join our Public Sector Legal Team at Amazon Web Services Australia Pty Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our public sector customers in Australia, New Zealand, and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
Key Responsibilities- Negotiate and advise on a wide range of technology contracts with a focus on Australian and New Zealand public sector customers.
- Assist with responses to bid proposals/tenders and support compliance training and awareness.
- Work proactively with regulators and policy makers to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation to business team members on a day-to-day basis.
- Help develop, implement, and manage process improvements across the team.
- Law degree (L.L.B., J.D. or equivalent) from a leading university and/or law school.
- Admitted to practice law in Australia or New Zealand.
- 5+ years of post-admission legal experience at a top national or international law firm, in-house, or government agency.
- Experience in drafting and negotiating complex contracts involving public sector customers.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines.
- In-house government or tech experience is a plus.
- Sound written and oral communication, and client interaction skills.
- Experience in public sector procurement and knowledge of Australian or New Zealand government procurement rules.
- Knowledge of Commonwealth security regulations (e.g. the Protective Security Policy Framework and Information Security Manual).
- An existing Commonwealth security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
