Position Overview:

The Assistant Branch Manager is accountable for the direct oversight and coordination of platform and teller operations under the general guidance of the branch manager. This role involves directing, supervising, and coordinating the activities of branch personnel, including platform staff, receptionists, and tellers in a full-service branch focused on lending, membership expansion, training, employee development, and service and sales management. The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for the overall supervision of daily staff activities and ensuring compliance with branch policies, procedures, and federal regulations, stepping in for the branch manager as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations and Risk Management:

  • Exhibit leadership and sound decision-making to mitigate risks, safeguard member assets, and ensure the security of the branch, personnel, members, and their financial transactions.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines, established policies and procedures, and federal regulations.
  • Oversee the accurate completion of daily branch settlements, cash management, and maintenance of branch records, including monthly audits.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in settlements.
  • Delegate authority appropriately to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Ensure the physical appearance of the branch meets established standards.
  • Report any safety or maintenance issues related to the building.
  • Evaluate the quality of work produced and ensure timely resolution of errors, promoting risk mitigation and member satisfaction.

Culture and Leadership:

  • Assist the branch manager in planning and executing strategies to enhance overall branch performance.
  • Foster member loyalty through consultative interactions and tailored solutions to help build wealth.
  • In collaboration with the branch manager, coordinate and lead the work of staff members in delivering efficient and courteous services, including opening new accounts, establishing business banking relationships, promoting products and services, and conducting loan interviews and closings.
  • Embody APGFCU values by nurturing a safe and secure workplace.
  • Demonstrate commitment to employee development by contributing to performance evaluations and disciplinary action plans.
  • Implement strategies for continuous learning for oneself and staff through various educational channels.
  • Anticipate and identify underlying causes for subpar results and take corrective measures.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of open communication, positive employee and member relations, and high productivity.

Member Experience and Sales:

  • Lead, plan, and implement a branded sales process that aligns with our mission of empowering members to build wealth.
  • Optimize best practices through service and sales meetings, tracking, coaching, and follow-up.
  • Enforce ethical sales practices through inspections, coaching, observations, and staff meetings.
  • Coach consultative selling techniques, maximizing available tools and promoting daily service and sales activities.
  • Assist in coordinating branch efforts to achieve assigned monthly goals.
  • Provide coaching to staff members to enhance skills and experience through observational coaching, recommendations for additional training, and work inspections.
  • Support the branch manager in preparing and reviewing monthly performance standards with each branch employee.

Business Development:

  • Assist and support the branch manager in developing and promoting APGFCU through community engagement and business partnerships.
  • Coordinate with the branch manager to participate in various outreach initiatives, including local events and open enrollments.
  • Collaborate with business development directors to raise awareness of APGFCU and promote membership growth.

Additional Responsibilities:

Perform other related duties as assigned or associated with the responsibilities of this position. Responsible for completing applicable training and compliance on federal regulations and APGFCU policies and procedures related to this role.

Qualifications:

Leadership: Strong leadership, motivational, and managerial skills. Must maintain a professional demeanor and demonstrate integrity and ethical standards. Must understand and apply effective selling strategies and techniques.

Education: Associate's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in a financial institution, including at least two years in a supervisory role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: A team player who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment. Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. Strong problem-solving, priority-setting, and decision-making skills. Positive, resourceful, and adaptable. Familiarity with branch administrative procedures, business computer operations, and verifying and documenting financial transactions is essential. Requires supervisory, communication, and organizational skills.
