Principal Advisor Employee And Industrial Relations

About This Role

The Principal Advisor Industrial Relations provides strategic advice and support to the department in key areas such as management and resolution of industrial disputation, negotiation of employment conditions, advocacy on behalf of the Department, union consultation, managing employee performance, policy development, and absence management.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Industrial Disputation Resolution: Provide expert advice and support in resolving industrial disputes through effective communication, negotiation, and mediation skills.
  2. Negotiation of Employment Conditions: Collaborate with stakeholders to negotiate employment conditions that meet the needs of the organization and its employees.
  3. Advocacy and Union Consultation: Represent the Department's interests in various forums, including before the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, and maintain positive relationships with unions and their representatives.
  4. Employee Performance Management: Develop and implement strategies to improve employee performance, address underperformance, and manage absenteeism.
  5. Policy Development and Review: Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures related to industrial relations.
What You'll Need

To succeed in this role, you will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of industrial relations principles and practices. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field, such as industrial relations or human resources, is highly desirable.
