Job Description

The Correctional Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the delivery of centre-based assessment, rehabilitation, psychological, and cultural services to prisoners. This involves managing resources to ensure activities align with integrated offender management models and meet annual performance targets.

This senior manager will contribute to the dynamic security of the centre by engaging in broader centre safety and security activities such as cell inspections, duty manager functions, and providing advice to the operational workforce when required.

They will ensure compliance with departmental practices and procedures, facilitate implementation of new initiatives, and implement mechanisms for achieving statutory and professional obligations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversee the delivery of training to staff on contemporary offender management practices
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement
  • Ensure workloads and work practices contribute to the effectiveness of the centre

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • High level of experience leading and motivating others to meet demanding work roles
  • Effective management of staff and provision of direction and performance assessments
  • Knowledge of financial and resource management
  • Understanding of case management in the human services field
  • Significant exposure to the Criminal Justice System or related human services environment
