Aboriginal Community Rehabilitation Coordinator

Targeted Vacancy:
This position aims to fill the gap in representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in custody, with an occupational requirement for a person of the same background.
The key responsibilities of the role include addressing cultural issues during sentencing, attending prisoner inductions and parole interviews, managing the progression of prisoners through the correctional system, collaborating with families and service providers, and providing welfare services.
Key areas of focus are case management, sentence management, multi-disciplinary teamwork, community liaison, and support services. The successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners are met.
The Cultural Liaison Officer will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of programs targeting identified rehabilitation needs, particularly those focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners.
