We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Engineer to lead our data center engineering operations in Melbourne. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data centers, fostering strong relationships with vendors, and providing technical guidance to less-experienced operators.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in an on-call escalation roster across the data center region
- Manage on-site contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with established practices and local legislation
- Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on critical facility infrastructure operations and maintenance
- Generate change management requests and incident management tickets for events managed by DCEO
- Collaborate with DC managers and business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency
- Develop documentation relevant to business and facility operations
- Install racks and provide power/cooling within constraints
- Review routine maintenance and emergency services for critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
- Assist in designing, implementing, commissioning, and building out new facilities
- Drive and implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability
- Manage facility assets and provide infrastructure and inventory asset management
- Attend and participate in regular construction and operational meetings as required
- Familiar with work order compliance to ensure all contractual SLAs are achieved
- Interface with Infra Ops management for day-to-day operational requirements
- Assist in recruiting efforts
- Assist in resolving infrastructure engineering or services issues
- Provide day-to-day technical oversight and guidance to a team of engineering operations technicians
