Job Summary:

This role involves collaborating with colleagues to plan, develop, coordinate, and review project civil/structural design work. You will work in a 3D modeling environment, produce drawings, facilitate discussions, communicate complex technical issues, and prepare civil/structural design estimates and work plans. Your recommendations will ensure designs and work plans are in accordance with project scope, schedule, regulations, and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement designs within a small-size civil/structural design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business units.
  • Produce detailed 3D models, drawings, and documentation in accordance with established design and scope, including design of concrete structures, foundations, and steel detailing.
  • Coordinate and interface as directed with the day-to-day technical work of civil/structural engineers, scientists, specialists, designers, and drafters.
  • Communicate complex technical issues and provide recommendations to upper management.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of civil/structural design estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manage implementation and performance accordingly.
  • Collaborate with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work.
  • Review key civil/structural engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
  • Mentor junior team members by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
  • Ensure civil/structural systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience OR
  • 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Essential Skills:
  • Design of a wide range of industrial structures including buildings (covered, opened), material handling structures, equipment supporting structures, building and equipment foundations, retaining walls, etc.
  • Design and modeling of concrete and structural steel in 3D environment (e.g., Tekla, Smart3D).
  • Assisting in preparation of discipline material take-offs.
  • Work in 2D environment while preparing drawings (e.g., Microstation).
  • Leading a small structural design team.
  • Interaction with broader project team including interfaces with other disciplines.
