Job Overview:

This role involves leading the development of civil and structural engineering projects, requiring expertise in structural analysis, design, and construction.

  • Schedule and coordinate various phases of civil and structural engineering work, including original designs layouts, details, drawings, and specifications for structures, buildings, roadways, railroads, etc.
  • Participate in the design and development of civil/structural components and processes using relevant department procedures, design standards, and guides.
  • Apply knowledge of statics, dynamics, and materials engineering to design structures and determine the appropriate use of structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete.
  • Originate and check structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
  • Analyze problems with conflicting design requirements and sketch ideas and possible solutions.
  • Report on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
  • Complete civil/structural documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
  • Provide support to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project civil/structural requirements and addressing issues during project execution.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience are required.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience in the mining and metals industry, including the design of materials handling systems, process plants, and/or non-process infrastructure.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, guides & procedures, and codes relevant to civil discipline.
