About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Sales Estimator to join our team at Ahrens, a leading Australian family-owned company with 120 years of experience in delivering high-quality and cost-effective products and projects. As a Sales Estimator, you will play a crucial role in providing estimates for water storage projects from concept to handover, working closely with our Sales Manager and clients to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide input into the 'buildability' of projects during the design phase to ensure that the design is generated in the most cost-effective manner.
  2. Review preliminary specifications to determine scope of works.
  3. Develop the project scope in consultation with the Operations Manager and the client.
  4. Liaise with drafters, engineers, and other relevant professionals to ensure practical and compliant designs.
  5. Consultation with the Contracts & Compliance team to agree commercial terms.
  6. Ensure all tasks and plans are in accordance with legislation, regulation, and service requirements.
  7. Send out and review pricing from approved subcontractors, suppliers, trades, and other relevant stakeholders.
  8. Prepare tender submissions to clients.
  9. Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key clients.
  10. Maintain knowledge of the latest design, innovation, codes, and standards in order to provide the best solutions to clients.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years' experience estimating in commercial projects;
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings;
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction drawings/methods and standards for tender submission;
  • High level of attention to detail with regards to reviewing and interpreting documentation supplied as part of a RFQ or similar;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Intermediate skills in using Microsoft Suite and similar products;
  • Basic knowledge of common ERP systems (SAP, Pronto).
