A premier event for primary school students, the Newcastle Permanent Mathematics Competition has been a benchmark for excellence in mathematics education for 45 years.

With almost 20,000 participants annually, this free competition encourages students to develop a broad and in-depth understanding of the K-6 Mathematics Curriculum.

The competition aims to stimulate interest and enjoyment in mathematics, recognize academic excellence amongst senior primary students, and provide diagnostic information to aid teaching and learning.

As Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the competition's future, building on its long-standing success. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and setting examination papers.
  • Coordinating external evaluations and endorsement of examination papers.
  • Contributing to marking and formatting of results.
  • Providing expert guidance and advice in developing the annual Challenge event.
