This role is a strategic opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the development and implementation of research strategies in music and health that cater to community needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate research strategies in music and health that align with community requirements.
  • Drive engagement initiatives connecting new communities with a leading arts institution, including through programs, short courses, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster partnerships with First Nations communities, healthcare professionals, educators, and regional stakeholders to advance the impact of music and the arts in creating healthier, more connected communities.
  • Document and disseminate the effects of music and the arts on wellbeing, belonging, and community connection.

This capacity-building appointment aims to strengthen the visibility and reach of music and arts research, create new opportunities for collaboration, and demonstrate the value of music and the arts in supporting individual and community wellbeing.

The ideal candidate will be an established or emerging leader in music (or the performing arts more broadly) with expertise in research, practice, and community engagement. They will have a doctoral qualification in music (or a related field), a strong track record in community-engaged, applied, or socially impactful music scholarship, and skills in creating engaging, responsive learning experiences.

Strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive practice are essential for success in this role. The ability to set priorities, foster collaborations, and generate measurable impact is also crucial.
