The University of Newcastle seeks a research and engagement specialist to lead music initiatives that foster healthier, more connected societies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop strategic partnerships with First Nations communities, health professionals, educators, and regional stakeholders.
  • Create programs, short courses, and professional development opportunities to connect new communities with the Conservatorium.
  • Document and share the impact of music in creating healthier, more connected communities.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape music research and engagement practices in a region where the University is already positively engaged.

About You

You are an experienced leader in music or the performing arts, capable of navigating research, practice, and community engagement.

Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • Doctoral qualification in music or a related field.
  • Strong track record in community-engaged, applied, or socially impactful music scholarship.
  • Skills in designing engaging learning experiences.
  • Effective communication skills and a commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive practice.
  • Ability to set priorities, foster collaborations, and generate measurable impact.
