We are seeking an experienced Compassionate Animal Care Professional to join our team at Greencross Vets Dandenong. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical nursing skillset, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a genuine passion for providing exceptional care to animals and their owners.

As a Veterinary Medicine Nurse with Greencross Vets, you will be working closely with our cohesive and supportive team to deliver high standards of care for all our patients. You will assist with consultations, conduct handovers of patients, and ensure a clean and hygienic environment throughout the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering a high standard of compassionate care to both patients and clients
  • Planning and scheduling for the day
  • Caring for hospitalised patients and recovering patients after procedures
  • Preparing and facilitating procedures
  • Planning and monitoring anaesthesia
  • Preparation of patients for procedures
  • Ensuring a clean and hygienic environment throughout the hospital
  • Assisting with consultations
  • Conducting handover of patients

Requirements:

">
  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working as a veterinary nurse, specialty experience preferred but training can be provided
  • Strong technical nursing skills, including IV catheter placement, blood sampling, transfusions, feeding tube maintenance, central line care, endoscope set up and care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medication dosage, calculations and administration
  • Excellent anesthesia and monitoring skills and willingness to learn from our Anesthesia team
  • Knowledge of RxWorks and Smartflow desirable but not essential
  • Good general nursing knowledge base
  • Open to learning and receptive to feedback
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during high-pressure situations and adapt to changing situations
  • Positive, flexible and enthusiastic attitude
  • Proven ability to problem solve
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail
  • Able to work closely within a team and autonomously
  • Genuine passion for providing exceptional care to animals and their owners
