Adolescent Mental Health Specialist

This is a consultancy opportunity to provide high-quality, safe mental health care for adolescents in an inpatient setting. The role involves leading a team to assess and manage young people with first presentations of psychotic illness, including supervision of a registrar.
The successful applicant will have experience working with young people with mental health difficulties and be able to lead a multidisciplinary team. They will also contribute to teaching, training, research, quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management activities within the Local Health District.
The position requires strong clinical, diagnostic, and teamwork skills appropriate for an independent Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Consultant. A commitment to education, teaching (undergraduate/postgraduate), research, quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management is essential.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in the Local Health District facilities.
- Lead in assessment and management of young people and families with first presentations of psychotic illness.
- Supervise registrars and participate in the on-call roster.
- Collaborate with the Unit Director, Nursing Unit Manager, and CYMHS colleagues to ensure appropriate inpatient care and bed allocation.
- Contribute to teaching, training, research, quality improvement, and patient safety activities.
