Senior Psychiatrist

Job Opportunity

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) is seeking a consultant child & adolescent psychiatrist to lead an early intervention service for first episode psychosis, catering for young people up to 25 years old.

• Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in NSLHD facilities.
• Lead in assessment and management of young people and families with first presentations of psychotic illness.
• Supervise registrars and participate in the CYMHS on-call roster.
• Collaborate with Unit Director, NUM, CYMHS colleagues and external agencies to ensure appropriate inpatient care and bed allocation.
• Contribute to teaching, training, research, quality improvement and patient safety activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality clinical services to adolescents requiring inpatient care.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
• Lead and manage teams to achieve desired outcomes.
• Stay up-to-date with best practices in mental health care.

Selection Criteria:

• Hold a medical degree or equivalent qualification.
• Have specialist registration as a psychiatrist or eligibility for such registration.
• Have experience as a senior clinician in acute adolescent and/or adult psychiatry.
