The Aboriginal Palliative Care Specialist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality end-of-life and palliative care for Aboriginal people.
- Serves as a key liaison between healthcare providers, community-based service organizations, and patient families at the primary healthcare level.
- Provides expert guidance on culturally safe environments for Aboriginal patients and their families within multidisciplinary teams.
- Facilitates communication between healthcare professionals, patients, and families to ensure culturally sensitive care coordination.
This specialist will collaborate with clinicians, community-based service providers, and patient families to develop and implement culturally appropriate care plans. They will work closely with healthcare teams to ensure that all care is delivered with cultural competence and sensitivity.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement culturally safe care practices.
- Provide education and training to healthcare staff on cultural awareness and sensitivities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local Aboriginal communities and service providers.
