Job Title:
">FAMILY LEAD DECISION MAKING SPECIALIST
About the Job:
">We are seeking an experienced Family Led Decision Making Specialist to deliver a culturally strong FLDM service and reduce the disproportionate representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in the child protection system.
">The successful candidate will provide independent support to families when child protection concerns are reported for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander child or young person, with the goal of securing the safety of the children and the family's participation in decision making.
">Duties and Responsibilities:
">- ">
- Effectively engage Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander families that come into contact with the Child Protection system.">
- Provide high quality case management practices and meet case performance targets.">
- Empower families through targeted interventions to have improved meaningful involvement in the Child Protection decisions that affect their lives.">
- Be a conduit and 'lead case worker' role for all Child Safety matters that involve the family being supported.">
- Lead the direct integration with the Family Support System and internal services.">
Requirements:
">We are looking for someone with current qualifications in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, Health, Allied Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Family Intervention or Criminology, and 4 years' relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support or related field.
">OR Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, Child and Family Intervention with 5 years' relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support or related field.
">AND at least 3 years of abovementioned experience in a case management role.
">The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to meet client performance targets, record accurate and consistent case notes, work effectively with minimal direction and communicate collaboratively as part of a team, and contribute to the development of creative and innovative services.
">We also require the ability to oversee and coordinate case management processes and procedures, travel across different sites, and work with vulnerable populations. A Working with Children's Card (Blue Card) is required.
">Preferred Qualifications:
">Brief intervention counselling skills and previous experience in a family support and/or advocacy role would be highly regarded.
