About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Youth Support Worker to join our care team in Bundaberg, providing tailored therapeutic interventions for children and young people in out-of-home care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet the daily care needs of children and young people, including personal hygiene, health, and well-being, medical, transportation, recreational, and educational support.
  • Contribute to maintaining a quality care environment that is safe, clean, and personalized to each child or young person.
  • Document events and developments related to the day-to-day provision of care on the child or young person's journey.
  • Ensure NDIS plans are accessible for children and young people while in our care.
  • Utilize trauma-informed practices and supports in day-to-day care provision.
  • Provide positive behavior support, therapeutic interventions, and safety to children and young people who may experience events of escalation and crisis.
  • Encourage and facilitate opportunities for social engagement, recreation, and community involvement.
  • Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualized support plans.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children and young people, supporting them in developing essential life skills.
  • Promote and support positive relationships and connections for children and young people with family, culture, and community.
  • Help children and young people reach developmental and life milestones towards a healthy, happy, and thriving life.
About You

We are looking for care team members with a demonstrated passion for helping children and young people heal and grow through understanding and support. You should have experience in offering support to individuals with disabilities and complex support needs, helping them lead fulfilling lives and promote their independence.

You'll understand the importance of trauma-informed care, consistency, and stability in the lives of children and young people, adapting your responses and utilizing a broad range of support strategies. You should be committed to meticulous documentation and reporting, with a deep commitment to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people.

Essential qualifications include a current paid working with children check, national police check, valid driver's license, and a suitable minimum qualification, lived experience, or eligibility for a traineeship.
