Join Our Hospital as a Critical Care Unit Medical Specialist

We are seeking experienced and skilled Medical Officers to join our team at the Friendly Society Private Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for medical professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced critical care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to all aspects of clinical care, working under the guidance of our credentialled medical specialists and the Director of Critical Care.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, collaborating with the specialist team to plan care.
  • Attend patient rounds, document ongoing management, and communicate treatment goals with the nursing team.
  • Review patient concerns and attend to deteriorating patients as part of the medical emergency team.
  • Perform necessary procedures, including PIVC, CVC, PICC, and arterial cannulation.
  • Manage mechanically ventilated patients, competent in intubation and airway management.
  • Assist with procedural sedation in the unit when required.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position, with 87.5 hours worked per fortnight. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Requirements:

  • A medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Previous post-graduate acute/critical care experience (mandatory).
  • Expert procedural skills, including advanced life support, arterial line insertion, central line insertion (CVC & PICC).
  • Expert medical knowledge of pathophysiology and management of critical illnesses and conditions.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to your role.
  • High-level oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, able to work under pressure, set priorities, plan, and organise workloads.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member and provide high-quality customer service.

Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 per annum, plus attractive salary packaging options and additional discounts and benefits within our hospital and pharmacies.
