Newcastle Private Hospital, a 189-bed acute private hospital facility, is seeking a Senior Oncology Nursing Specialist to join our Medical Oncology team on a Full-time or Part-Time basis. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support in both the inpatient setting and day oncology area.

Company Overview

We are a co-located facility on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park, with 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15-bed Intensive Care Unit. Our cardiac suite includes a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16-bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite with six birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region.

Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annumJob Description

The successful candidate will possess current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse and a minimum of two years' relevant post-registration qualifications. Demonstrated experience working within an acute medical or oncology setting is essential. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be able to work effectively in a supportive team, and demonstrate a professional manner when dealing with complex situations.

  • Undertake acute nursing care in accordance with legislation
  • Deliver evidence-based nursing care
  • Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Ensure patient and staff safety
Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant post-registration qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience working within an acute medical or oncology setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of quality improvement initiatives using research principles to support evidence-based practice
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a supportive team
