Transformational Disability Support Specialist

About the Role:
We're seeking a skilled Developmental Educator to join our interdisciplinary team in Northern Melbourne. As a key member of our support network, you'll work closely with participants and their families to develop tailored plans, build strong relationships, and break down barriers that prevent them from reaching their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough initial assessments using our LEAD evidence-based assessment tool to identify areas of need and develop personalized support plans.
- Support Coordination: Collaborate with our interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless wraparound support for participants and their families.
- Capacity Building: Provide training and capacity-building opportunities for support teams to create capable environments that promote independence and self-advocacy.
- Professional Development: Engage in regular peer group supervision/mentoring, professional learning, and reflective practice to enhance expertise and skills.

Requirements:
- Qualifications: Hold a Bachelor or Masters of Disability (or equivalent) and be eligible to become a member of the DEAI.
- Behaviour Support Practitioner: Be deemed a Behaviour Support Practitioner by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
- Skills and Experience: Demonstrate empathy, understanding, and strong advocacy skills, with a passion for removing barriers using the social model of therapy.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check: Obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children's Check.
- Valid Driver's License: Hold a valid driver's license.
