Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of expertise and experience in child protection and Aboriginal community engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and support to Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to expand their case contracting program or Aboriginal Children in Aboriginal Care program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation: Develop and implement programs to support the transition of Aboriginal children from out-of-home care to ACCOs, in accordance with the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.
  • Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborate with ACCOs, child protection teams, and other stakeholders to identify and prepare children for transfer to ACCOs.
  • Risk Assessment and Analysis: Conduct risk assessments and provide guidance and advice to ACCOs and child protection teams on risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Case Planning and Management: Develop and implement case plans to support the transition of Aboriginal children to ACCOs, and provide ongoing case management and support.
  • Staff Development and Coaching: Provide coaching and mentoring to child protection staff on Aboriginal cultural competence, risk assessment, and case management.
Requirements
  • Expertise in Child Protection and Aboriginal Community Engagement: The successful candidate will have extensive experience and expertise in child protection and Aboriginal community engagement, including knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with ACCOs, child protection teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment: The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
