Youth Outreach Coordinator

Our YouthBeat service provides practical assistance and support to young people in need, diverting them from risk and helping them to build a brighter future. As a member of our team, you will work collaboratively with key stakeholders and the YouthBeat team to ensure that young people receive the best possible support.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate Youth at Risk Strategy (YARS) Initiative shifts, engaging with vulnerable and at-risk young people in the CBD and Northbridge area.
- Provide trauma-informed, person-centered support to young people using culturally secure and solution-focused approaches.
- Deliver assertive outreach to young people in Perth CBD using a vehicle and foot patrols.
- Provide safe transportation for young people to approved locations.
- Build rapport and engage with street-present young people using your skills and understanding of current issues impacting young people.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A degree or diploma in youth work, social work, social sciences, psychology, or a minimum of three years' experience in a similar role.
- Proven assertive outreach work experience in engaging and supporting at-risk young people, including working with intoxicated young people and those experiencing homelessness.
- Experience and ability to work with at-risk young people, including knowledge of child and adolescent development.
- Strong assessment, general counseling, and crisis intervention skills, including working with people experiencing alcohol and other drug use issues, mental health issues, and families in crisis.
- Demonstrated experience working with First Nations people and communities.
- Strong time management and administration skills, including computer skills in Microsoft Office, and ability to adopt Mission Australia's web-based Information Management system.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing and data collection.
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Full driver's license with no restrictions.
