We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Outreach Worker to join our team at Mission Australia. As a key member of our YouthBeat service, you will play a vital role in supporting young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the Perth CBD and Northbridge area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma-informed support to vulnerable young people, using culturally secure and solution-focused approaches.
  • Deliver assertive outreach to young people in the Perth CBD, using a vehicle and foot patrols.
  • Provide safe transportation for young people to approved locations.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders and the YouthBeat team to ensure young people have the best opportunity for success.
Requirements
  • A degree or diploma in youth work, social work, social sciences, psychology, or a minimum of three years' experience in a similar role.
  • Proven assertive outreach work experience in engaging and supporting at-risk young people, including working with intoxicated young people and people experiencing homelessness.
  • Experience and ability to work with at-risk young people, including knowledge of child and adolescent development.
  • Strong assessment, general counseling, and crisis intervention skills, including working with people experiencing alcohol and other drug use issues, mental health issues, in mental health crisis, and families in crisis.
  • Demonstrated experience working with First Nations people and communities.
  • Strong time management and administration skills, including computer skills in Microsoft Office, and ability to adopt Mission Australia's web-based Information Management system (training will be provided).
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing and data collection.
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Full driver's license with no restrictions.
