The Role

A newly created opportunity has arisen for a commercially-minded funds lawyer to join a growing in-house legal team. As a Legal Counsel, you will report to and assist the Head of Legal and Compliance in delivering timely, high-quality, and commercially-focused legal services aligned to the strategic drivers of the business.

  • Main Responsibilities
  • Advise on fund development and maintenance, including establishment, consolidation, and/or decommissioning.
  • Manage legal risks associated with offering documents such as PDSs, IMs, PPMs, TMDs, and Design & Distribution obligations.
  • Support marketing teams to ensure marketing plans and materials comply with local and offshore regulations.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance under Australian and offshore regulatory obligations.
  • Provide transactional support by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Respond to regulatory queries and manage external counsel as required.
  • Enhance legal processes by improving precedent documents, policies, investor communications, and governance frameworks.

About You

  • You have 3-6 years' PQE with experience in funds, financial services, or investment management gained in a well-regarded law firm or in-house environment.
  • You possess sound knowledge of AFSL obligations, ASIC policy, and Corporations Act requirements.
  • You are commercially astute, able to balance legal risk and business strategy in a fast-paced environment.
