Job description We are seeking a dedicated Employment Lawyer to join our team.
The role involves delivering legal advice, casework, and representation to clients, participating in community legal education, and contributing to law reform and systemic advocacy.
This role is suitable for mid-career lawyers.
If you bring significant experience and leadership skills, you may be considered for appointment as a Senior Lawyer.
STRATEGIC CONTEXTThe Northern Community Legal Centre (NCLC) provides legal services and community legal education to people facing systemic barriers to accessing such services in Melbourne's North West and Northern growth areas by enabling protection of rights and access to justice.

ABOUT USNorthern Community Legal Centre (NCLC) is adynamicnot-for-profit community legal centre that operates in one of the fastest-growing areas of Melbourne and has a significant catchment, including the Merri-bek, Hume and Mitchell Shire Local Government Areas.
NCLC operates from a central office in Broadmeadows, a satellite office in Wallan, and with outreach clinics in other service areas.
NCLC ensures services are accessible to the community by providing legal advice, education and referrals.
NCLC is part of the consortium delivering the Working Women's Centre Vic (WWC Vic), part of a national program which provides trauma informed legal services using a gender-based and feminist lens, to help build a gender equitable society where women workers have decent, safe and fair work.
We help all workers identifying as women (whether cis or trans) as well as non-binary workers.
POSITION OBJECTIVEThe Employment Lawyer will be part of our employment law team which consists of employment lawyers, graduate lawyers and community development worker.
The position reports into the Managing Employment Lawyer, and indirectly to the Legal Practice Manager.
You will be responsible for ensuring high quality employment and equality law advice and casework to women workers, including migrant and refugee women, young women and women experiencing family violence.
Working closely with other NCLC lawyers and community development workers, you will ensure wrap around services including community engagement.
Based in either Broadmeadows or Wallan, this role has a regional focus, with regular travel to our Wallan office required to service regional clients.
ABOUT YOUWe are seeking an Employment Lawyer that has been admitted to practice with at least two-years post admission experience.
You will have demonstrated practice experience in employment law, with a focus on sexual harassment and discrimination.
As Senior Employment Lawyer, you may be expected to supervise lawyers.
REMUNERATIONSalary range from $99,327.35 - $103,823.21 per annum SCHCADS Award level 5 (depending on experience), plus employer funded superannuation.
Senior Lawyer Salary is $108,515.60 per annum SCHCADS Award level 6.1 plus employer funded superannuation.
