**Role Overview:**

Guidance Officers play a vital role in providing comprehensive student support, advocating for the needs of students, and collaborating with school personnel and external agencies.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Advocate for students' educational, behavioural, career development, mental health, and family issues;
  • Provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment, and individual student support, making recommendations and offering advice to students, teachers, and parents;
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, facilitating effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel, and external support agencies;

**Requirements:

To be successful in this role, Guidance Officers should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • A completed coursework Master's, majoring in guidance and counselling, or an equivalent Master's including study in the areas of psychoeducational assessment, counselling, and mental health;
  • General or provisional registration as a psychologist through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Psychology Board;
  • An Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited four or five year qualification in psychology that will enable general registration as a psychologist following completion of a board-approved internship or accredited sequence of study;
