Job Title:

Career Counsellor and Student Advocate

About the Role:

This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Career Counsellor and Student Advocate to join our school community. The successful applicant will be part of both our primary and secondary teaching teams, providing expertise, leadership and professional support to our students and community.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents and staff. They will also have excellent problem-solving and case management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Advocate for students' needs, providing counselling and psychoeducational assessments, and supporting teachers and parents with educational, behavioural and career development issues.
  2. Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive support and case management services for students.
  3. Provide ongoing support for students making decisions about education, personal, social and emotional development, and career options.
  4. Conduct student observations and assessments to determine learning difficulties or disabilities, and make recommendations for educational adjustments and interventions.
  5. Support the school in implementing policies and procedures related to student protection, gifted education and behaviour support.
Requirements:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in a field such as education, psychology or social work.
  • Significant experience in a similar role, preferably in a school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents and staff.
  • Strong problem-solving and case management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
