Job Title: Chief Accounting Officer - Sydney

Description:

This exciting opportunity is available for a Chief Accounting Officer to join a leading trading firm in Sydney, Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of three while working flexibly, with a 3/2 split.

About the Role:

The Chief Accounting Officer will oversee all internal and external financial reporting and filings for all legal entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and comprehension within the context of the business's operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring accurate and timely completion of internal and external financial reporting and filings for all legal entities
  • Managing AASB / IFRS technical accounting considerations, including sustainability reporting requirements
  • Leading tax accounting aspects of these entities in partnership with the Tax team (including transfer pricing, income tax, GST, FBT)
  • Overseeing GL account maintenance, including complex transactions and required changes to the GL framework (new accounts, cost centers, etc.)
  • Managing intercompany settlements and related allocations from the Group Finance team
  • Coordinating with internal and external partners to ensure high-quality data provided for statutory and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Consolidating and reconciling data from various sources for accurate and timely reporting
  • Leading a team of three, responsible for individual development plans
  • Supporting the CFO change (automation) agenda throughout the region and global initiatives
  • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities in processes, controls, and workpapers, ensuring well-documented solutions
  • Supporting Group Finance with all reporting requirements and accounting policies/papers

Requirements:

To succeed as a Chief Accounting Officer, you will possess:

  • CA/CPA certification or equivalent
  • 10+ years' experience in financial control, with a proven ability to lead successful teams
  • Experience in process and systems enhancements, particularly technology change initiatives
  • Experience with accounting systems (NetSuite preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and commercial mindset
  • Experience with control frameworks and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Excellent multitasking skills, effective management of shifting priorities
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, packaging information clearly and concisely
  • Full Australian working rights and fluent English skills

Estimated Salary Range: AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 per annum
