Join Our Youth Empowerment Initiative

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Capoeira Angola Project Officer.

As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for teaching weekly Capoeira Angola classes at local schools, co-facilitating our STARTTS Youth Group, planning youth camps, facilitating annual youth encounters, and attending local interagency meetings.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A qualification in youth work or a related field, with experience working with young people;
  • Well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • A recognized level in Capoeira Angola by the Brazilian Association of Capoeira Angola and the Capoeira Angola community;
  • Demonstrated group facilitation skills and experience teaching Capoeira Angola to refugee young people;
  • An understanding of the effects of torture and trauma on young people, families, and communities.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Teaching Capoeira Angola classes;
  • Co-facilitating the STARTTS Youth Group;
  • Co-planning youth camps;
  • Facilitating annual youth encounters;
  • Attending local interagency meetings.

**Requirements:**

  • A current unrestricted NSW driver's licence;
  • The ability to liaise with the wider school community;
  • Knowledge and understanding of youth and welfare services.

**Additional Requirements:**

  • Category A workers must meet and maintain vaccination criteria (as per current NSW Health and our policies).
  • This position is considered child-related employment and will require a Working with Children Background Check and a National Police Check.
