Primary Health Care Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Primary Health Care Specialist to join our team at Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services. As a valued member of our multidisciplinary team, you will deliver comprehensive primary health care services to Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clinical primary health care services at remote clinic sites and headspace Broome, including emergency care and telehealth clinics.
  • Engage in quality assurance initiatives and contribute to the improvement of clinical practises.
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in community health programs and contribute to clinical leadership within the organisation.

You will be required to work effectively within KAMS's pre-existing structures of governance as part of a multidisciplinary team of Doctors, Aboriginal Health Workers, Registered Nurses, Health Promotion Workers, and Allied Health Professionals.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Current AHPRA registration with no conditions.
  • Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM).
  • Experience in managing emergencies in remote settings and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of Aboriginal culture and effective communication skills with Aboriginal people.

A valid 'C' class driver's licence, Federal Police Clearance, and a current CPR certificate are also requirements for this role. Previous experience in the Aboriginal health sector and familiarity with mmex software is desirable.
