Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our team of safety professionals. The successful candidate will provide advice, assistance, guidance, and support to all personnel on health and safety issues relevant to the Sino Iron Project.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment: Performing regular and effective workplace inspections to identify hazards and conducting thorough risk assessments to mitigate potential issues.
  • Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Job Hazard Environmental Analyses (JHEA): Providing professional Health & Safety input into SWMS and JHEAs to ensure robust safety planning.
  • Team Support: Assisting work teams in identifying risks, preparing JHEAs, and conducting team-based risk assessments to improve overall safety awareness and practice.
  • Incident Investigations: Participating in incident investigations, applying root cause analysis to identify underlying issues, and developing SMART corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Health & Safety Guidance: Offering guidance and assistance to Health & Safety representatives to enhance their effectiveness in the workplace.
  • Process Improvement: Regularly reviewing existing work procedures to identify opportunities for improvement in hazard control measures and operational safety.
  • Compliance and Communication: Ensuring that Health & Safety compliance requirements are clearly communicated to all team members and stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A current WA Manual Drivers Licence is essential.
  • Minimum of 3 years mining/resource industry experience.
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
  • Working and practical knowledge of the WA WHSA, WHSMR, and applicable Australian Standards, and Codes of Practice.
  • Ability to conduct Audits, Investigations, and Workplace Inspections.
  • Experience in incident investigations and auditing.
