The University of South Australia is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Academic in Aboriginal Health to join our team. As a key member of our Allied Health and Human Performance Unit, you will contribute to the teaching, scholarship, research, and professional activities of our team.
With a primary focus on Aboriginal Health curriculum development, delivery, and pedagogies, you will develop a network of contacts to support and contribute to the broader Aboriginal Health portfolio of teaching and research activity within the Unit.
About UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance
Our Unit offers a wide range of degrees and conducts research in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, medical radiation sciences, medical sonography, speech pathology, clinical exercise physiology, exercise and nutrition, health sciences, public health, exercise and sport science, and human movement.
Key Responsibilities
As an Academic in Aboriginal Health, you will be responsible for:
Applying research and scholarship to the development of courses, including investigating and developing alternative teaching methods and the initiation and development of new material
Maintaining and striving to improve the quality of courses as measured with a variety of evaluation instruments
Conducting research and scholarly activity (independently or as a member of a team) which will result in publications in refereed journals and in presenting conference papers at seminars
Creating, fostering, and enhancing local, national, and international links with relevant professional, university, and community bodies that assist in the advancement of University and Academic Unit objectives
Essential Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting on the learning of Aboriginal tertiary students from diverse backgrounds and a detailed knowledge of and familiarity with Aboriginal communities
A bachelor degree in a Health-related field and relevant industry/discipline experience in Aboriginal culture/health/research
Ability to undertake a range of teaching duties including the preparation of appropriate teaching materials and resources
High level written and oral communication skills and the capability to use the necessary digital techniques required for effective curriculum delivery
The ability to enhance the research profile of the Academic Unit through collaborative research
