About the Role

The University of South Australia is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Academic Specialist in Aboriginal Studies to join our team. As a key member of our Academic Unit, you will be responsible for developing, teaching, and coordinating Aboriginal Studies courses within our undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate Aboriginal Studies courses, including building connections with local Aboriginal communities and community organisations.
  • Contribute to research and scholarly activity, independently and/or as a member of a team, resulting in quality publications and presentations.
  • Create and foster local and national links with relevant community and university bodies to advance University and Academic Unit objectives.
  • Plan, review, and manage resources to facilitate the Academic Unit's teaching activities.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Identify as an Australian Aboriginal person and possess a demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting on the provision of services to and workforce considerations for Aboriginal communities.
  • Tertiary qualification or relevant industry/discipline experience in Aboriginal Studies.
  • Demonstrated expertise, knowledge, and a commitment to the contemporary practice of Aboriginal Studies.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience carrying out teaching activities that are academically relevant, centre Aboriginal knowledges and pedagogies, and reflect student and professional needs and standards.
  • A commitment to establishing a program of research and scholarly activity that enhances the research profile of the Academic Unit.
