About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Specialist to join our Corporate Services Team at IPL. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing expert legal support and guidance to ensure the business operates within a compliant and risk-managed environment.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research and horizon scanning to identify potential risks and opportunities that may impact the business. Provide expert advice and guidance to the team and wider business on compliance matters.
  • Supporting Training Programs: Develop and deliver training programs on legal and compliance topics to ensure the team has the necessary knowledge and skills to operate effectively.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the legal and compliance function, including data recording and performance analysis.
  • Compliance Audits: Conduct regular compliance audits to ensure the business is meeting its obligations. Report findings to senior management and implement remediation actions as required.
  • Enquiry Management: Manage and allocate enquiries received by the legal and compliance team, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Litigation Support: Assist the legal team in investigating litigation matters, including compiling supporting documents and evidence.
  • Document Control: Update and maintain document control information, including precedents and contracts.
  • Contract Management: Prepare and negotiate contracts, including supply of goods and services contracts based on IPL standard terms.
  • Contract Signing and Closing: Assist with contract signing and closing procedures, including collating and filing executed documents.
  • External Adviser Management: Instruct external legal advisers as required.
  • Project Tracking: Track progress of projects and complex work streams.
  • Simple Legal Processes: Manage simple legal processes and record data for further analysis.
  • Communication: Draft communications to colleagues, suppliers, and other parties.
  • Team Support: Assist with team away days and team building events.
  • GDPR Compliance: Monitor and ensure GDPR compliance, including Data Protection Impact Assessments and Records of Processing Activities.

  • Experience: 2+ years experience in a private practice law firm preferred.
  • Education: Law degree or other degree (2:1 or higher) with a PGDL conversion course. Legal practice course (postgraduate diploma level) at commendation or higher.
