About the Role:

The Archdiocese of Brisbane is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Case Coordinator to join our team at the Romero Centre. As a key member of our staff, you will play a pivotal role in managing the Gateways to Employment project, a vital initiative that supports people seeking asylum in overcoming employment barriers.

As a Case Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing culturally responsive and competent case coordination services to asylum seekers and refugees with varying levels of support needs. This will involve collaborating with stakeholders to deliver effective services, continually assessing and responding to emerging needs, and developing care plans based on mutually agreed goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service Delivery: Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver effective services, continually assessing and responding to emerging needs.
  • Care Planning: Develop care plans based on mutually agreed goals, involving participants and relevant stakeholders.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with service participants, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Service Facilitation: Coordinate and facilitate services, social inclusion activities, and participation groups for service participants.
  • Leadership: Lead and supervise casual project staff and volunteers, ensuring high-quality service delivery in line with Evangelisation Brisbane values.

Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related discipline, with relevant experience in a similar role.
  2. Proven experience in applying multicultural frameworks, especially within employment and training programs for marginalized communities.
  3. Deep understanding of the barriers faced by asylum seekers and refugees, including the impact of current policies and practices.
  4. Proficiency in IT systems including MS Word, Excel, and MS Teams.
  5. Queensland Provisional Green or higher Driver's Licence.
  6. Ability to obtain a positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other required personal history screening.

Desirable:

  • Ability to communicate in a second language and/or use interpreters.

About You:

We are seeking a compassionate and driven individual who is self-motivated, has a high level of integrity, and is committed to the mission of the Catholic Church. You will need to navigate complex interpersonal relationships within a diverse, multicultural environment, with a mature outlook and the ability to work independently. A deep understanding of the issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is also highly valued.

  • Supporting participants where English is their second language.
  • Balancing Catholic values with the legal and political landscape in Australia.

Authority Level:

While this role is not primarily decision-making, you will provide valuable advice and support to the Manager of the Romero Centre.
