About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Advisor to join our team at the Department of Treasury and Finance. As a Legal Advisor, you will provide technically sound and solutions-based legal services across a range of issues faced by the Department and its associated Ministerial portfolios.

Your key responsibilities will include drafting contracts, legal instruments, and correspondence, as well as briefing counsel and external legal advisers. You will also contribute to the Department's strategic planning and development, and develop close and effective relationships with other DTF business units, other departments, and agencies.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong commitment to service excellence and a proven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly as a member of a high-performing team. You will also need to have outstanding written and oral communication skills, and a strong ability to identify, manage, and escalate legal, policy, and commercial risks.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with demonstrable experience in providing technically sound legal advice in areas such as public and administrative law, statutory interpretation, commercial contracting, and litigation. You will also need to have experience supervising junior lawyers and/or administrative support staff, and a strong commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
