About the Role

We're seeking an Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Consultant to join our Central Coast Aboriginal Mental Health Team (AMHT). This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to culturally safe and responsive mental health services.

As a Cultural Consultant, you'll work closely with clinical teams to ensure services honour Aboriginal culture, address the impacts of trauma and colonisation, and promote social and emotional wellbeing through a strong cultural perspective.

You'll collaborate with mental health clinicians to provide cultural advice and guidance, ensuring care is respectful of Aboriginal culture and sensitive to the effects of trauma and colonisation.

The successful candidate will engage with local Aboriginal health organisations and other agencies to provide well-rounded support and better health outcomes for Aboriginal consumers.

This is a meaningful role where you can contribute to culturally safe and supportive mental health care for Aboriginal people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide cultural advice and advocacy within a mental health setting
  • Assist with culturally informed care planning and assessments
  • Advocate for Aboriginal consumers and support connections to family, community, and culture in hospital and community settings
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, participate in reviews and meetings, and share insights to ensure Aboriginal voices are heard
  • Build and maintain connections with local Aboriginal health organisations and other agencies to support holistic care and outcomes
