Hospital Liaison Officer

The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Hospital Liaison Officer (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health - Identified) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Assist in the provision of an effective and efficient Hospital Liaison Service to ensure support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inpatients and outpatients
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the care of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inpatients and outpatients including guiding staff on cultural differences and the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients
- Advocate for patients and families in the hospital environment, contributing to positive outcomes for all parties and facilitating effective communication in a flexible and empathetic manner
- Assist in planning ongoing pathways for patients, including providing advice and referrals to relevant government and non-government organisations and services in line with the discharge planning process
- Support the promotion and acknowledgement of the importance of cultural days and other events across the hospital setting

About you

**To be successful in this position you will require**:

- Identified Indigenous Information under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community
- While not mandatory, a health-related Certificate, Diploma or Degree would be highly regarded
- Driver Licence
- The ability to travel and work at various Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service facilities
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 19
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be completed

Salary
- Temporary full time (6 months with the possibility of extension)
- Base salary ranging from $2 634.80 - $2 944.80 per fortnight
