The primary function of this role is to oversee and manage the risk operations, ensuring that all activities are executed in accordance with established policies and procedures. This involves supporting the Head of Risk to drive the overall strategy, fostering a high-performance culture, and providing expert advice on risk-related matters to senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of 15 professionals, guiding them to deliver exceptional service and analysis
  • Effective management of alert queues, guaranteeing accurate assessment of cases generated via risk monitoring platforms
  • Ensuring compliance with internal regulations and upcoming external requirements
  • Contributing to the implementation of risk policies across the organization
  • Minimizing harm to customers and the organization resulting from risk events
  • Providing guidance to internal stakeholders regarding risk vulnerabilities
  • Execution of team resourcing, development, and engagement within corporate frameworks
  • Supervision of team performance and compliance
  • Generation of insights and trends reporting
  • Compliance with SLAs and industry regulatory requirements
  • Support in assessing and managing material risk events
  • Expansion of risk monitoring and assessment capabilities into new products and typologies

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • 5+ years of people leadership experience in a risk or operations business
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk management and mitigation
  • Fraud or financial crime-related qualifications would be highly regarded but are not essential
