Bioinformatics Career

As a Bioinformatics Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining cutting-edge bioinformatics programs and pipelines. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to leverage your expertise in driving innovative solutions for bioinformatics analysis and pipeline development.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining sophisticated bioinformatics programs and pipelines that integrate seamlessly with existing systems
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including remote members, to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrating expertise in programming languages (Python, Java, etc.) and advanced bioinformatic analysis techniques
  • Utilizing high-performance computing, cloud computing, and database management to optimize data processing
  • Analyzing complex metagenomic datasets and contributing to the development of LIMS-related next-generation sequencing workflows for bacterial and viral genomes
Qualifications and Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Science, Bioinformatics, or a relevant field
  • A postgraduate qualification in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, and/or Genomics is highly desirable but not mandatory
  • Australian Federal Police security clearance is a mandatory requirement
  • Proof of qualification and registration/membership with the appropriate authority/association may be required
Vaccine Preventable Diseases Requirements

Vaccination against Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella, and Varicella may be a condition of employment. Additional vaccinations, including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies, may also be required.
