Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Assistant to join our Wildlife Cryobanking team.

The successful applicant will have experience in preparation, handling and preservation of live cells, knowledge of electronic collection management systems, and excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • Undertake research and collate information on cryobanking of live cells as an ex-situ conservation measure for wildlife in Victoria.
  • Conduct lab work to culture cells, cryopreserve cells and assess their viability.
  • Undertake collection management and registration of tissue samples and live cells.
  • Comply with Museums Victoria's policies and procedures and with relevant legislation and regulations.

This is a part-time (0.5FTE) fixed term position until further notice.

As a member of the team you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing research projects related to wildlife cryobanking.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to achieve project goals.
  • Contributing to the development of new protocols and procedures for cryopreservation and cell culture.
