We turn curiosity into reality and are looking for a Research Assistant, Wildlife Cryobanking to join our team.

About the position

This role involves lab work supporting the Ian Potter Australian Wildlife BioBank, focusing on cryopreserving Australia's terrestrial wildlife and registering live cells into the collection, aligned with the ARC Linkage Grant project.

Key duties include
  • Researching cryobanking of live cells for wildlife conservation in Victoria.
  • Conducting lab work to culture, cryopreserve, and assess cell viability.
  • Managing and registering tissue samples and live cells.
  • Registering collection components electronically and physically, including barcoding.
  • Adhering to policies, procedures, and legislation.
Qualifications
  • Experience in handling and preserving live cells.
  • Knowledge of electronic collection management systems (desirable but not required): EMu, MVWISE.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
